We are attempting to list all places where photographers can photograph castles within the UK, this list looks at those castles which we feel offer the most to visitors and photographers in Wales and the Marchers. We have another list that contains the names and locations of all known castles in Wales and those related to the Marcher Lordships. Where the names in the location column is hyperlinked this links to a Location page with more information on this site and over time more of these will be added, we will be delighted if some of you would like to also produce location pages. All of the castles listed here have substantial remains, but in order to provide a guide to which of the castles are of greatest interest we have added a code, which is subjective, and you may well have a different opinion or feel others should have been included from the larger list, but we felt we had to start somewhere. The first column contains a code, the definition of these are: 1 = Are major castles where we feel it would be worth making a special day trip to explore. 2 = Similar to code 1, but perhaps you would want to combine this with another purpose.
3 = These castles you would probably only want to
see as part of a group visit or when visiting
This list will continue to grow as we come across new places. REMEMBER if know of somewhere that you feel is a good place please let us know.
