The Welsh Highland Railway at Porthmadog
The Welsh Highland Railway was once a very long line that ran
all the way from Caernafon to Porthmadog where it had a station on the opposite
side of the town to that of the Festiniog Railway. Restoration started from both
ends, at the Porthmadog end, just a small section had been re-opened.

2ft gauge, it operates for three-quarters of a mile from Gelert's Farm to
Pen-y-mount, and visitors have the opportunity of travelling in the restored
coach used by Prime Minister William Gladstone during a visit in 1892.
Next year this will join up with the railways being extended from
Welsh Highland
Railway (Caernarfon)
