Macro or micro photography is all about taking
things close up. To different people and companies there is a difference of
opinion as to when something is a macro photo. See our articles on

the best toys or right equipment is not going to get good photos, you need
to have a good idea of how to use them, to know what problems you will
encounter and how to overcome them. This is where Camera Images can help
you, either assisting you to make use of what you have now or showing you
the whole area so you can make up your own mind as to which way to go, what
lenses and other items to use and perhaps where to specialise.
Training in macro photography we find is best
achieved by about a third theory and two thirds practical. Given this you can
see that the amount you can cover is at least in part dependent upon the time
you can spend with us. However by covering in theory only those areas that you
are not going to do now, we can squash it down into less time if you wish.
Usually all the training we do in macro
photography is using Nikon cameras, lenses and flash units, we use other makes
of other items like tubes, and cable releases etc. If you are a user of another
make of camera then you will find we do run a Masterclass in Macro Photography
under our Photography Skills brand, providing you can use your camera, you will
find that you will be able to apply all that we can show you to to your
own equipment.
Most of the demonstrations we
do will still be using the Nikon equipment as we don’t have all the
different makes of cameras, flashes, and attachments that it would take to
run across all brands with demonstrations in each brand. We will help you to
apply this to your chosen brand.
Nikon users have a choice of three groups of
courses the Masterclasses, photography days and shorts, or of course any
combination of these. As we will tailor make any training day to suit want you
want to cover you can vary from the defined courses if you wish, just remember
to allow enough time to achieve all you want cover, or call us to talk through
what you would like.
Masterclasses
Masterclasses are aimed
at those who have mastered their cameras and controls and want to then
concentrate on a single narrow area of interest. They are intended to empower
you to make a giant leap forward in a day. The Macro Masterclass can either
concentrate on your current interests or give you a very wide in depth coverage
of macro photography.

Courses
All camera Images courses
are configurable so you can tailor them to your own requirements. They start by
looking at what you want to cover and making sure that they then cover this
ground the best way possible in the time available, this will often include
going over some of the camera ground relevant to macro that you are unsure of,
and perhaps clearing up other problems that you also have. We have a course

MIC - Macro to Micro
This
course looks at the various ways to get close up photographs of small things
from looking at the shortest working distances with a range of lenses, at
specialist Nikon and other macro lenses, at both Nikon and cheaper close up
lenses that attach to other lenses, and utilising tubes and bellows, and
combining them. We look at how to use flash, lighting cubes and reflectors and
how to stabilise cameras when working very close. We look at economic ways to
get involved in this, and allow you to try yourself different arrangements, so
you can see the real differences between them.
